A selection of Bosch cabin filters

Filtering Out The Competition

Cabin filters play a vital role in reducing pollutants that enter the car through the air vents. Bosch explains how their filters do more.

Air pollution is a major health risk as a common cause of asthma, lung disease, stroke and heart disease. The main pollutants are soot, carbon and dust from roads, fields and tyres. The cabin filter traps these pollutants and stops them from getting into the respiratory system of the body.

Why Filters are Important

It’s recommended that these filters are changed once a year, every 12,000 miles, or more frequently in urban areas where pollution levels are higher. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO) pollution from combustion engines and fossil fuels is the cause of around 40,000 deaths in the UK alone. As a valid health concern, it’s the perfect opportunity to upsell to a premium Bosch filter.

How Cabin Filters Work

The cabin filter can be found on most modern vehicles and is typically located behind the glove compartment or dashboard with the aim of preventing dust, dirt, pollen, bacteria and exhaust gases from entering the car through the air-conditioning and heat vents. Signs that the cabin filter needs replacing include:

  • Reduced air circulation inside the passenger compartment.
  • Diminished heating and air conditioning performance.
  • A musty odour in the cabin of the vehicle.
  • Condensation on the inside of the windows.

Advancing Protection Choices from Bosch

Bosch offers three different types of cabin filter; Standard, Activated Carbon, and Filter+. These ranges provide advancing levels of protection from air contaminants and impurities to motorists, alongside upsell opportunities to motor factors.

Bosch HEPA cabin filters are designed to provide the ultimate filtration protection in trapping allergens, dust and other particulates from getting into your vehicle cabin via the ventilation system.

The Activated Carbon filter removes almost 100% of contaminants and stops the chance of mould forming in the ventilation system, while the added carbon layer absorbs smells and harmful gases.

Bosch Filter+ have 4 layers, including an anti-allergy layer that is impregnated with silver ions to render allergens harmless and eliminate airborne bacteria. With a range of over 500 cabin filters, Bosch have a cabin filter for almost every car.
