Wrap up Warm with Portwest Winter Workwear Essentials

Workwear expert Portwest gives a run-down of key winter essentials that spell good business.

The workwear market in the UK is continuously under review, with legislation and worker safety becoming increasingly important regarding workwear essentials. This becomes, even more, pertinent in winter, when companies strive to ensure workers are warm and fully protected against cold and wet conditions. There are extensive opportunities and new developments in workwear fabric and PPE and more thought than ever is now being given to design, style and ergonomics.

All Weather Protection

Portwest offers unparalleled all-weather protection with the use of quality fabrics and high technology construction. The portfolio includes the well-established Classic range of practical, lightweight and easily packable workwear.

Newly introduced is the Sealtex range of high-tech rainwear. This is constructed of coated, tear-resistant fabric with welded seams to lock out the wind and rain. For situations where increased visibility is important, hi-vis versions of the Sealtex range are also available.

Thermal Wear

The successful range from Portwest includes thermal base layer tops and leggings, thermal outerwear, comprising short and long sleeve T-shirts and trousers as well as grip gloves for cold weather conditions. The unique fabric technology locks in the body warmth to create a thermal barrier, which is then regulated during activity. The Portwest base layer clothing is constructed of 100% wicking polyester. This acts by drawing moisture away from the skin and keeping the wearer warm, dry and comfortable in cold conditions and cool in the heat. The outerwear range is constructed of 50% polyester and 50% cotton, which offers the same breathability to the fabric when conditions become too warm.

The gloves in the thermal hand protection range all conform to EN 511. This European standard specifies the requirements and test methods for gloves that protect against conductive cold.

Health & Safety

With increased priority placed on Health and Safety standards in the workplace, there is a huge focus by businesses on the use of hi-vis workwear among employees.

High Visibility Gear

Safety in the workplace is particularly important in the winter period with the extended hours of darkness. The high-vis range covers standard vests as well as weatherproof jackets and trousers that are constructed of the latest high-tech fabrics. These solutions are available for the vast majority of workplace situations and environments.

Quality Assured

All of the Portwest ranges are extensively tested by independent world renowned testing institutions and the products carry full CE markings, along with EN certification. Portwest hi-vis garments conform to EN ISO 20471, the international standard specifying the requirements for high visibility clothing.

Portwest has a consistent quality of products, as is expected from a premium European manufacturer. They place a high value on worker safety, product durability and user comfort, all of which are evident throughout their extensive product range.

To ensure continued compliance, every roll of fabric and reflective tape is tested with specialist equipment, guaranteeing all production meets EN ISO 20471.

Portwest specialists strive to develop products that exceed requirements set by industry expert. Working with companies on wearer trials, product selection and providing solutions that are fit for purpose allow Portwest to stay ahead.
