The 2017 fundraising activities included a drawing competition (results soon to be announced!), a bake sale and a style showdown. Some of our van drivers even collected money on their delivery runs to boost our fundraising total.
Where will the money raised go?
Across the UK, around 55,200 people are diagnosed with breast cancer every year; that’s approximately 1500 people per day. While the majority of those diagnosed are women, around 390 men are also diagnosed, with 1,500 women and 80 men losing their battle with the disease each year.
All of the money we have raised will be donated to Breast Cancer Now, the charity behind Wear It Pink. Started in 2002, Wear It Pink has gone on to raise over £23 million to fund important research into breast cancer, to help improve survival rates. Breast Cancer Now are working with the ambition that by 2050, everyone who develops breast cancer will live.
What else can we do to help beat cancer?
Aside from fundraising to support vital research, we can all play our part in ensuring breast cancer is detected early to give the best possible chances for treatment to be effective.
