We have been in the automotive industry for almost 80 years and this remains its core market. In 2009, their offering broadened to include Car Care and Accessories and this was further developed with the launch of a Caravan and Camping programme in March 2013. We now carry over 100,000 product lines serving Automotive, Travel and Leisure and Industrial customers.
To further strengthen our position in the Caravan and Camping sector, we have entered into an agreement with Unipart Leisure and Marine Ltd. (ULM) to acquire its Caravan and Camping business, expected to be effective at the end of October. Please note, this does not include the ULM Car Care, Lifestyle and Gas businesses, which continue as part of ULM unchanged.
By combination of some key personnel transferring as part of the transaction along with internal and external development, a focused team will be established to concentrate on this market sector. This will allow us to work in partnership with suppliers to take products to market, leveraging core strengths to offer an attractive product programme and a high service level to customers. This will sit alongside ongoing investment in the core automotive aftermarket business.
Following a period of transition, the focus will be to work with key proprietary brands to build a strong supply chain solution to support customers in this developing market. Supporting this brand approach, the Royal leisure brand ‘At home out there’ is also transferring to us.
This will extend on from the company’s initial launch into this sector and includes closer relationships with premium quality brands such as Dometic, W4, FL Hitchman, Thetford and AL-KO Kober Ltd. These additions will enhance our current offering within this division and will fit well into our existing product portfolio.
We provide our-self on operating with integrity with our customers, suppliers and staff alike, seeking to build long term partnerships that bring tangible benefits to all concerned.
All customers affected by this change will receive a welcome pack and a phone call within the week to ensure that the transition results in minimum disruption to their businesses.
From now until the end of October, ULM will still be responsible for clients; they will have limited stock remaining and may be able to fulfil customer requirements but cannot guarantee this.
From the start of November, orders will be taken via our Call Centre based centrally in Stratford upon Avon, working in collaboration with their UK-wide branches.
During the transition and as stock levels are rebuilt, there may be a period of low availability on certain product lines. In order to help offset the impact of this, we are offering a no minimum order quantity and carriage free next day service to the UK mainland for the remainder of 2013 for all transferring Caravan and Camping customers.
We welcome our new customers, suppliers and colleagues to the business and looks forward to a close and mutually beneficial working relationship over the coming years.
