Action Pact Update – ‘A Sporting Trio’

Take a look at our latest ‘Action Pact’ Update. Our staff have been supporting some amazing charities over the past few weeks, this is how the teams got on.

Welcome to our latest Action Pact update. Here at FPS, we run our ‘Action Pact’ campaign, a health and fitness initiative for our employees. Last year, we pedalled for pounds in our Sport Relief challenge, triumphed in the Leaderboard Triathlon and completed over 6.5 million steps in our wristband competition.

It’s been a busy few weeks for some of our Action Pact sporting volunteers, with sailing, cricket, swimming, cycling and running all on the agenda. Below we take look at how the respective teams got on in their pursuits of victory, supporting some fantastic charities along the way.

Action Pact Update -SUNSAIL

Following victory in last year’s competition, a team of sailors from across FPS headed to Port Solent on 14th June to defend our title in the Sunsail Automotive Challenge Cup.

In a glorious day on the Solent, 23 teams from the automotive industry tacked and jibed their way through the waters, under the instruction of experienced skippers and first mates, all vying to win the much coveted trophy. This was definitely no pleasure cruise!

Despite an incredible effort from the FPS team (pictured), this year’s trophy went back to the team from Schaeffler/LUK, who we took the title from in 2016. Congratulations to them – a 3rd win in a row for a team from the aftermarket, and one of our valued suppliers!

The event raised £17,000 for BEN – a fantastic total for a very deserving cause.

Action Pact Update -BEN Cricket Match

22nd June saw the return of the BEN annual cricket match, raising money for the industry charity, to support those in need within the automotive aftermarket.

BDM Andy Ingram took on the role of team captain, with players from FPS, Alliance Automotive Group and some of our suppliers.

After a series of hard-fought matches, ‘FPS & Friends’ were victorious, with a well-deserved Man of the Match award going to Jonathan Alexander from FAI.

It was a great day to be involved in, especially as the event raised a brilliant £5,735 for BEN”, said Andy Ingram. A big well done to everyone involved!

Action Pact Update -TRI-RICHARD

Last but not least, 11 volunteers took on the challenge of the Cisco Leaderboard team relay triathlon on 2nd July – the second event of its kind organised by Cisco, in aid of Comic Relief.

Thankful for the sunshine (but not so happy about the strong breeze), two FPS teams worked together to complete 6 laps of the impressive course at Dorney Lake in Windsor, each lap comprising a 200m swim, 5.3km bike ride and 1.5km run.

Action Pact Update -TRI-ADAM

Up against some incredibly serious competition, including some famous names from the world of athletics, the teams all put in a huge effort, with team ‘Die Tri-ing’ finishing in 2 hours 50 minutes, and the ‘FPS Backmarkers’ in 3 hours 16 minutes. A brilliant result for all, and great fun and teamwork along the way.

The event has contributed to the Leaderboard raising almost £200,000 for Comic Relief so far this year – an incredible total! Well done to both teams for taking part.

Look our for more updates later in the year!
